The spring 2014 issue of NAVUG Magazine is out, and it features a nice article about Shaw Development. Seems they have a pretty favorable impression of us, so be sure to check it out.
For those who don’t know, NAVUG is the official user group for professionals implementing Microsoft Dynamics NAV, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that helps businesses “manage their financials, supply chain, and people to create experiences that delight their customers.” In the software user group’s official publication, published quarterly, the editors run a series called Member in Action that focuses on a NAVUG member making a difference in its field. On page 20 of the current issue, you’ll find an article called “Values Thrive as Company Grows” – which is all about us.

Food is one of the basic building blocks of a society. Throughout history, we can see that stability comes, in part, from having a well-fed populous, and it is no different today. In the past fifty years, the world’s population has more than doubled from 3.2 billion in 1964 to an estimated 7.1 billion in 2014. Producing enough food to attempt to feed this boom has been a challenge, but the modern agricultural sector has been up to the challenge. Crop production has tripled since 1964 and according to the UN’s Food and Agricultural Organization, our per capita food supply jumped 600 kcal/day during that same time.
The question then becomes, how does the agricultural sector keep up production to match and even exceed the doubling of the world’s population? Much like every other industry, the modern revolution in science and technology has made it possible, especially when it comes to farming equipment and techniques.
